On the golden plains of Ol Pejeta Conservancy, two extraordinary lives carry the fate of an entire

species. Najin and Fatu are the last two northern white rhinos on Earth—a mother and daughter,

and the final living chapter of a story brought to the brink by decades of poaching and civil war.Yet

their story is not one of surrender.

Under round-the-clock protection, expert veterinary care and dedicated conservation teams, every

effort is being made to preserve their legacy. Through the pioneering BioRescue programme,

scientists are harvesting Fatu’s eggs and creating embryos using preserved northern white rhino

sperm, with the hope of transferring them to southern white rhino surrogate mothers. In 2026, a

new embryo brought the total to 39.
